Russian Drone Strikes Hit Ukrainian Cities, Killing Civilians and Damaging Buildings

A new wave of Russian drone attacks struck several areas of Ukraine between Sunday and Monday, causing civilian casualties and extensive damage.

The Associated Press reported that at least seven people were killed as strikes hit residential buildings, offices and other locations. Dozens of people were also reported wounded. ABC News

In Kyiv, emergency crews responded to fires and structural damage following the attacks. Among the locations damaged was a building associated with Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences.

The latest strikes are part of the continuing aerial campaign in the Russia-Ukraine war, where drones have become one of the most frequently used weapons.

Both Russia and Ukraine have increasingly relied on unmanned aerial systems for long-range attacks, surveillance and battlefield operations.

For civilians, however, repeated overnight drone attacks continue to create major risks far from the front lines.

Air-defense systems frequently intercept incoming drones, but falling debris and missiles that penetrate defenses can still cause casualties and substantial damage to infrastructure.

The attacks come as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain unresolved and fighting continues along multiple sections of the front.

International attention remains focused on whether renewed negotiations can eventually produce progress toward a ceasefire or broader settlement.
